Dystopian worlds

There are many different stories that all involve a different version of the apocalypse. The Two I’m looking at is The walking dead and the Fallout.

Both of these worlds feature and apocalypse. Out of the walking dead and fallout the more realistic fate is the fallout world. Fallout is a world that is created by the remains of humanity fighting for supplies in a nuclear war. This future seems much more realistic than the idea of a zombie apocalypse, especially when the disease is not even identified or even explained.  Fallout shows a much more realistic world by how there are events that can be seen happening now and there is no unrealistic disease or phanonmon that creates this world unlike the walking dead. It makes the world of the walking more laughable about unrealistic it appears, fallout more realistic which makes the game all the more enjoyable and interesting. That how to different futuristic worlds are shown.

Zombie blog

Well media seems to focus on how the world affects the survivors; Video games seem to focus more on the zombies than how the world has affected the survivors. One example of this is left for dead two. The whole game is fighting your way through a horde of different and weird looking zombies. There are zombies that you never anything like the walking dead like: “leapers, Jockeys etc”. There are various type of zombies and there is no character development more just about survival. Another good example of this the call of duty black ops zombie modes. In these games there are very little to no actual character development and they more focus on the zombie, making ones like: crawlers, leapers, runners, etc. It seems that most zombie games (there are some exceptions like walking dead) that the it more focuses on the zombies and the game play of trying to survive the wave after wave of zombies than trying to develop any characters or build any plot. That is how media in zombies seems to focus more on the zombies than the actual development of the characters.

Batman video game blog

Batman is portrayed in many different ways through-out the years. He has been portrayed through Comics, films, and even video games. However in each portrayal of batman it is clear that the films portrayal is the best portrayal of batman. One example of this is batman year one. Batman year one is a movie about how he becomes the dark knight and is ready to face the world. films is better at portaying this because it is able to give a more in-depth view of batman, and is able to keep the attention of the viewer much easier than the comics or the video games. It is also reaches toward more people and is more easier for people to experience than the video games or the comics. It is easier to experience a movie than having to play through a video game and getting stuck on a level or in a comic, unless you have a better imagination, it is difficult to get a good experience from a comic. Films are easier to understand and much more easier to enjoy with music and actions and animations make it easier to enjoy than a comic or a video game is.

Are sequels as popular in video games as in blockbusters

Yes this it is true that the same can be said for video games. Indeed it is true that video games franchises and seqauls are becoming more and more domiant in video games. There are three perfect examples of this.
The first example of this is the super Mario franchise. The Mario games have become so popular that there is little to now one who either hasn’t played one or at the very least heard of it. Super Mario games themselves follow a very simple story. Princess is kidnapped, taken far away by some enemy, Mario must then fight through a series of levels in order to rescue the princess. In fact there are very few things that change throughout each Mario game. The only few differences are the graphics and one new item or feature to try to get the audience to by the same game. The same can be said about the Zelda games. In the Zelda games, the Princess is kidnapped and you must proceed to go through many different levels and fights in order to rescue the princess (starting to see a pattern here in selling games). Mega-man games are another perfect example. The whole game is fighting through levels to get to willy and beat him. Looking back now, it seems to be a very simple formula for games. Even though such games have such a simple formula, the are able to make game after game almost exactly the same. Look at mega-man there very eight games for the game boy advance alone, and honestly I don’t even want to try and count the number of Mario games there are (or Zelda for that matter even though it is much smaller series compared to Mario).
Overall it is clear that franchises and sequels are becoming more and more dominant genre in video games just as it is in movies.

Media Studies Batman unit Summative

WARNING: HAS SPOILERS FOR THE BOOK: THE WAY OF THE SHADOWS AND:  WATCH_DOGS

Who has the most heroic origin?

Out of batman, Aiden Pearce, or Kyler Stern. The most heroic origin would have to be batman. I say this for a few reasons. The first reason that batman has a more heroic backstory is by how his parents are murdered, and instead of taking vengeance like Aiden Pearce or Kyler Stern, he is able to keep his emotions in check and not “stoop to their level”. For Kyler Stern to become a hero it was his desire to help those that were once like him, poor and weak and innocent. He leaves the slums and when war comes to his country, he uses what he’s learned about killing to help people instead for his own benefit like the rest of the hired killers do. For Aiden Pearce it was also situational. It happened to be the fact that his niece was killed, he went on a one year blood hunt trying to find the one who tried to kill him and killed his niece instead. That is why it shows that out of all these characters, Batman is definitely, the person with the most heroic values.

Which hero has the most heroic values? I would have to say batman is the person with the most heroic values of them all. Batman parents are murdered and is still able to beat up criminals and not let his emotions take over him. Aiden Pearce kills people and let’s his emotions run wild whenever his family is threatened or is involved (half of the video game is about trying to save his sister). Kyler Stern is even worse. He grows up as a kid in the slums and when he has a chance to leave and become a hired killer’s apprentice, he leaves to become his apprentice to get out of his unfortunate circumstance, (although Kyler does try to redeem himself by getting himself killed (multiple times…)).

What are their antagonists like? For Aiden Pearce the antagonists is Damien Brenks. Damien Brenks is a thief and a hacker who is great at what he does. However all of that changes one day when an attempt to tap into the Merlaut Hotel to try to siphon money from people’s bank accounts goes wrong for both Damien Brenks and Aiden Pearce. It ends up with them both barely getting away, but not without them being identified and getting a hit put on them. This ends with Damien becoming bitter at the world, to the point where he decides to try to kill everyone in the city, since he deems no of them are worth saving.

For Batman the antagonist for batman is: Probably the world possibly joker. Joker is a perfect example of everything the batman stands for. Batman stands for order and justice, peace and sanity. The joker stands for none of that. He stands for chaos, murder, killing, and that nothing matters. The joker is a representation of everything that the batman stands against which is why out of all the batman villains, joker the antagonist for batman.

For Kylar Sterin it varies on which book so I’m going to go with book one so Roth Ursuul (also known as Rat). Kylar sterin starts out as a kid trying to get out of the slums, so he becomes an apprentice’s assassin In order to get out of the slums and kills the one known as rat to get out of slums. It only turns out later that rat is alive and has created a slaughter of a kingdom just for the fun of it. After seeing what kind of horrible stuff happens in the even worse areas of society, Kyler “turns over a new leaf” and decides to fight for the innocence which eventually leads him to rat the leader of the slaughter. Once again this is where similar.

who is the most heroic overall?

Most heroic, Maybe Kylar Stern because he comes from a bad background, does horrible things, and is able to come back and redeem himself. He also does much more than that. He: turns his back on a group that is known to kill anyone who tries to leave (he is able to leave anyways). He also saves a king from an invaded country while his castle is even invaded, kills the evil leader, and saves over hundreds of innocent people and cripples the enemies invading force. He is able to leave the dark parts of the world and give his life for the sake of other people that he doesn't even know. that is why I believe that Kylar Stern is the most heroic character of them all,

Aiden Pearce is my favorite of the three. His difficulty of trying to be a good person (also how he has more realistic features like budget problems and no unrealistic powers, with the fact he is more realistic person than batman or Kyler Stern). Aiden Pearce shows much more about how he tries to do what’s right as well as the true difficulty of what it would be like to be a hero. Aiden Pearce proves that it is not all black and white as they are made out to be. Another reason why I like Aiden Pearce shows how much sacrifice one must go through to be a hero. There are a few examples of this. One example is: How he has to get his family to leave Chicago, how he is homeless and lives in homeless areas (such as abandoned storage crates), and how through the whole game; how Aiden Pearce has to live with what he does and how his actions affect everyone he knows. I like how Aiden’s story shows what it would be like for a realistic hero to exist, that not everything is all clear or happy, but a dark and sad truth. I also enjoy the story of Aiden Pearce by how all the enemies are realistic and you can imagine to be realistic today, as well as how Aiden Pearce (in short) is nothing more than a man who is feed up with the crime and corruption in the city and decides to do something about it. It is also interesting to see how Aiden is able to take advantage of simple phone devices and computers to help him bring in criminals, showing how easy it is and how many people depend on technology. That is why Aiden Pearce is my favorite character out of the three.
